Nanzen-Ji Temple

The highest ranked Zen Temple Nanzen-ji is the head temple of Nanzen-ji school of Rinzai Buddhist sect. It was formerly a detached palace called “Zenrin-ji-dono” built by Cloistered Emperor Kameyama in 1264.
